IoT for the warehouse

IoT WMS

Connect smart sensors to SmartWMS for live telemetry and automated alerts — the instant a temperature, humidity or device threshold is breached, you know.

What is IoT in a WMS?

IoT turns your warehouse into a live, measurable system. Sensors on shelves, freezers, doors and equipment stream readings into SmartWMS, which stores the telemetry and reacts to it automatically.

Instead of someone walking the floor with a clipboard, alert rules watch every reading and raise an alert the moment something goes out of range — so you fix problems before they cost stock.

Everything from sensor to alert

A complete IoT module built into your warehouse management system.

Device & sensor registry

Register IoT devices and their sensors, track heartbeat and online status.

Live telemetry

Ingest sensor readings continuously and store time-series telemetry per device.

Alert rules

Define thresholds that trigger alerts automatically when a reading goes out of range.

Condition monitoring

Track temperature, humidity and other conditions for cold-chain and sensitive stock.

IoT dashboard

See offline devices, latest readings and open alerts at a glance.

Acknowledge & resolve

Triage alerts with acknowledge/resolve workflow so nothing slips through.

Frequently asked questions

What is IoT in a WMS?

IoT in a warehouse management system means connecting physical sensors — temperature, humidity, motion, equipment status — directly to the WMS. SmartWMS registers devices and sensors, ingests their telemetry in real time, and acts on it through alert rules and dashboards.

How do IoT alert rules work in SmartWMS?

You define alert rules with thresholds for each sensor (for example, a freezer above −18°C). When incoming telemetry breaches the rule, SmartWMS evaluates it automatically and raises an alert — no manual checking. Alerts can then be acknowledged and resolved.

Can SmartWMS trigger alerts from sensor data automatically?

Yes. Every telemetry reading is evaluated against your alert rules the moment it arrives. If a value crosses the configured limit, an alert is generated instantly and surfaced on the IoT dashboard and via notifications.

Is IoT useful for cold-chain and temperature-sensitive inventory?

Very. Continuous temperature and condition monitoring with automatic alerts is exactly what cold-chain operations need to stay compliant and catch excursions before stock is lost. SmartWMS combines this with lot traceability for full visibility.

How many IoT endpoints does SmartWMS expose?

The IoT module covers the full lifecycle — devices, sensors, telemetry ingestion, alert rules, alerts and a dashboard — across roughly 25 API endpoints, all available over the SmartWMS REST API.
